Shadow Hearts:Covenant - Lottery Members

The lottery is an ongoing subquest throughout the Shadow Hearts series.  You win prizes by completing challenging judgement rings.  These prizes will ultimately include Joachim's ultimate armour, so it's worth playing!  The later players won't play unless you've completed earlier lotteries, so it's worth doing all of them.  You can only play if you have lottery tickets, which can only be found not bought, so try not to waste them.

You'll find the lottery members as follows:

  • Lottery 16: Automatically, in Le Havre.
  • Lottery 15: Southampton, in the northeast corner of the main square.
  • Lottery 14: In Rhondda Mine.  He's hiding in a dead end towards the east.
  • Lottery 13: Under the Convenir awning in Cannes.
  • Lottery 12: In a cell in St Marguerite Island.
  • Lottery 11: Natalya, a maid in the Hermitage.  She'll only be available after you've broken in via the catacombs.
  • Lottery 10: Return to Gepetto's apartment, just before heading back to Apoina Tower.
  • Lottery 9: In the Brick Warehouses in Yokohama.  The lottery player is Manuel to the southeast of the savepoint.
  • Lottery 8: Battleship Mikasa, near the Cabin Key.
  • Lottery 7: in Nihonibashi, near the pillar on the right at the end of the bridge.
  • Lottery 6: Inugami Village - examine the tree behind the save point.
  • Lottery 5:  Return to Azabu Kamiyashiki and check Locker 5 again.
  • Lottery 4: In Tiffauges Castle.   You'll find specific directions to this lottery and the next few here.
  • Lottery 3: In the Fort of Regrets.
  • Lottery 2: in the garden at Mukyo-An, after finding the other fourteen.
  • Lottery 1: outside the shop at Le Havre after finding all the others.

Breath of Fire IV - Ershin's Best Equipment

Mass Driver - 104 attack.  Steal from Chopam in Fou-Lu's tomb.

Chopam Plate - 50 defence and "resists both physical and magical attacks".  Dropped by Chopam in Fou-Lu's tomb.

OR

Mithril Rig - 50 defence (but is heavier than Chopam Plate).  Forge at the Smithy from Iron Scraps x 3.

As you can see, there is only one enemy with whom you need to be concerned here.

To find Chopam;  he's in Fou-Lu's tomb.  You remember the block which took you down into the depths of the tomb, and then, eventually out in Mukto?  Ride that back all the way up, and Chopam will most commonly appear on the steps right in front of them.  Yes those little 2 x 1 steps.  Stay on them.

Getting the Chopam Plate from the Chopam is relatively easy - as long as you can kill him, you've got a very fair chance of getting it.  I've done a bit of levelling with the Bots, which helped.  Getting the Mass Driver is quite a bit harder.

To defeat Chopam; he will be invulnerable for two turns, so just try to steal or guard.  Maybe cast Charm, though you probably don't need to.  On the third turn, I found that a combo of Nina using Oracle, Ershin using Spray and Cray using Triple Blow worked very well, and did over 10,000 damage.

To steal from Chopam: use characters who are faster than he is - that is, with an agility of 140 or more - in order to steal from him twice on the fourth turn, before he is able to run away.  I used Nina and Ursula, one with Pilfer, one with Steal.  That gives you eight chances per battle, rather than six.

Staying on the stairs heavily increases your chances of running into him, to the point of roughly every other battle. This makes a huge difference to how much this takes.  Even though you do have to look at the screen more and can't watch TV or read quite as much (trust me, you will want to be doing something else at the time).

I finally managed to steal one off, roughly, the tenth Chopam I faced.  Finally!

Breath of Fire IV - Scias' Best Equipment

Cleaver - 119 attack.  Steal from Horseman in Imperial Castle.

OR

Slicer - 78 attack, 2 hits.  Dropped by Kolpum in Imperial Castle.

OR

Render - 2 hits, attack varies with number of battles fought.  Trade 99 stamp cards to any Manillo.

King's Armour - 100 Defence.  Stolen from Rider in Mukto Ruins.

The King's Armour was surprisingly easy to get.  To find Rider, head to the Mukto Ruins.  See the jump spot behind the block?  Jump onto the path and run round to the left (North).  In the tunnel, look for the weakened wall, and use Ershin to break through it.  Head through the (very short) tunnels.  In the final room, you'll find an obelisk, marking where Fou-Lu was summoned, and a Dragon Tear (excellent accessory; protects from all status effects).  In here, you can run into Rider.

I had Ursula and Nina with Steal and Pilfer, and Scias healing in the third position.  I ran away once I had it.  I'll go back and kill him later.

Breath of Fire IV - Cray's Best Equipment

Nunchaku - 145 Attack.  Dropped by Trean in Abandoned Village.

OR

Linked Pole - 133 power.  Manillo Store.  Trade 75 stamp cards for it.

Gideon's Garb - 93 defence, +10 to attack.  Dropped by Battle Suit in Astana, near the end of the game.

OR

Life Armour - Defence 90.  Heals 100hp each turn.  buy from Manillo Store in Astana.  Costs one Whale, one Sturgeon, and three Bullcats.

It took me about half an hour of fighting to get the Gideon's Garb.  I bought one set of Life Armour when I first caught whales and sturgeons; Scias had it first, until I got his King Armour, then Cray, and now Ryu will wear it until I find him something better.

The Mist Armour you can buy in Chedo also has 93 defence, and is slightly lighter than the Gideon's Garb.  The main difference is that the Gideon's Garb also raises your attack, while the Life Armour constantly heals you, making them bother slightly better options.

Treans have a pretty high chance of dropping Nunchakus.  I got one off the third one that I managed to kill; not that it's much easier to kill one out of a group than the whole group.

You can see more information on the Manillo Stores here.

Breath of Fire IV - Ryu's Best Equipment

GooKing Sword - 152 power.  You have a 1/256 chance of winning this sword by defeating a Goo King in the Imperial Castle.

OR

Dragon Blade - 128 power.  On B1 of the Imperial Castle.

OR

Royal Sword - 96 power, two hits.  Steal from Astral dragon, a boss near the end of the game.

Royal Armour - 102 defence.  Steal from Tyrant, a boss near the end of the game.

OR

Dragon Armour - 96 defence.  1F of the Imperial Castle.

OR

Life Armour - 90 defence.  Heals 100hp per turn.  Buy from Manilla in Astana; 1 Whale, 1 Sturgeon, 3 Bullcat.

Equipment in .Hack//Infection

The best equipment you can get in the game is as follows. I personally like to equip all my team-mates with their best weapons early on. Armour is a lot more difficult, as most items aren't available by data-draining, and so you need to rely on them randomly showing up at a Gott statue, which I've found not to be practical so I usually don't bother.

Head

Light: Thunder Torque. Trade from Tim.
Medium: Lightening Cap.
Heavy: Ceramic Helm (second best is the Stormlord Helm).

Body

Light: Thundercloak. Trade from Micino and Benkei.
Medium: Quakebeast Fur
Heavy: Thunder Armour. Occasionally received from Gott statue.

Hand

Light: Storm Bracer. Trade from Teria, or DD Wood Stock (non-rare).
Medium: Thunder Gloves. Trade from Benoit.
Heavy: Hands of Storm. Trade from Teria.

Foot

Light: Thunder Anklet. Trade from Benoit.
Medium: Ranger's Boots.
Heavy: Electric Guard. From Mantis, or DD Red Scissors (non-rare).

The best weapons are as follows;

Twin Blade (Kite, Natsume): Hyakkidouran (DD Parasite Dragon, only one available), Bom-ba-ye (DD Mu Guardian).

WaveMaster (Elk, Mistral): Dark History (DD Pheonix Queen), Jester's Wand (DD Woodstock).

Heavy Blade (Blackrose, Sanjuro): Shikisokuzeku (DD Goil Menhir), Sakabatou (DD Hell Hound).

Heavy Axe (Piros): Axe Bomber (DD Red Scissors), Great Hill (DD Mantis).

Blademaster (Mia): Phoenix Wing (DD Mystery Rock), Jinsaran (DD Metal Goblin).

Long Arm: Scarlet Autumn (DD Tetra Armour), Million$ Spear (DD Cursed Blades)

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness - Equipment

There are a couple of pieces of equipment I try to create as quickly as possible in Disgaea.

To understand this, you're going to need to know a little bit about specialists, so I'll assume you do. I may create a basic specialist guide later. Anyway.

I always create an amulet with 300 Managers, 300 Statisticians, 300 Brokers and 1900 Armsmasters first. Wearing that amulet will let a character gain four times as much Hell, EXP and Mana from each enemy, while raising their weapon skill rate as quickly as possible. Those limits are the points at which each specialist loses effectiveness. Before that point, regarding the Managers, Statisticians and Brokers, each one increased, respectively, your Mana, EXP and Hl by 1%. 300 = 300% on top of the 100% you got anyway.

The second item is a Legendary staff (that is, flashing gold) filled to the brim with Teachers. It doesn't matter how powerful the Teachers are, just that every slot is filled. Go through the item, killing every Item General, King and God you come across. It doesn't matter about killing anything else. On the 30th, 60th and 90th level, you'll gain another slot, so be sure to put another teacher in there.

Finally, use a Mr Gency's Exit to leave the item on the 99th floor. The reason for this is that, you'll be able to steal the next staff up from the Item God on the hundredth, and you want to be able to reset until it's Legendary. If it isn't Legendary, you'll only be able to get to the 30th or 60th floors, which will mean you can't steal the next staff in line, and the amount you'll be able to permanently boost its Intelligence (which is the point of this operation) will be limited.

Eventually, you'll end up with the best staff (am Omniscient Staff, btw), along with a whole bunch of other kick-ass ones, should you want an extra mage. Incidentally, I think I'll create a table in another post detailing my Omniscient Staff quest.

My final piece of equipment is a belt, boosted in a similar way, only using Gladiators instead. As far as I can tell, you won't be able to steal the next belt up from an Item God - that only applies to weapons. Instead, I normally keep an eye on the enemies equipment for the last ten floors, and steal anything that's Legendary and better than my item.

As a final note, many people use what I've done with staffs to get the best sword in the game (a Yoshitsuna) but it works for any weapon. Well, maybe not monster weapons, I'm not sure, but all human weapons.
